Critical Thinking Class #1

I attended the first critical thinking class. We learnt what skill, knowledge and talent mean and how they differ from each other.
  • Skill is anything that can be perfected through practice.
  • Knowledge is the information you learn about something.
  • Talent is what is in you.
After discussing about this we moved on to learning what an argument is.
  • An argument is a reason (or reasons) leading to a conclusion.
We discussed the difference between a quarrel and an argument. We solved a few problems. We discussed about arguments and counter-arguments.  At the end of the class we were given a small test. It was quite simple but still none of us could answer all of them correctly. We had to "THINK" and the course was all about making us think. One of the questions nobody could answer was:
J,  F,  M,  A,  M,  ___What is the next letter?
A)  A                C) M
B)   F                D) J
Note :
You need to have a proper explanation behind your answer. Try solving it and share you answer with the reason.

  1. Hi there. What you will find is that as you grow older your experience informs your critical thinking. You cannot expect to be the best at it straight away. The answer is D) of course. Once you see that each letter is the first letter of each month name in English you can see that after M (May) comes J (June). Good luck!

    1. Thank you very much. Our teacher said the same. I understand that experience adds to the pattern of thinking. Thanks for sharing.
